Eternal Decision operates inside the fierce parameters of alternative metal, extending heavy metal's range by weaving gentler melodies into its thematic core. The quartet—Joe Chambless on bass and vocals, Cory Boatright on guitar and vocals, Tommy Torres on guitar, and Kirk Campbell on drums—assembled in Oklahoma City during the mid-1990s. From the outset the band built a loyal audience through its aggressive rock material paired with high-energy concerts, steadily attracting wider attention from both outlets and listeners. In 1997 the group's debut album reached retailers throughout the United States and sixteen other countries, earning notable praise and further raising the band's visibility. After a stretch spent sharpening its singular, heavy style, the musicians entered the studio to capture their next release, Ghost in the Machine.
