Biography
Originally rooted in thrash metal, the CCM outfit Believer shifted toward a progressive, symphonic style that incorporated classical vocals and instrumentation when the band emerged in the late 1980s. Throughout its frequently changing roster, vocalist/guitarist Kurt Bachman and drummer Joey Daub remained the sole consistent members. The group’s first release, Extractions from Mortality (1989), also featured guitarist Dave Baddorf, bassist Howe Kraft, and violin contributions from Scott Laird, whereas Sanity Obscure (1990) swapped Kraft for Wyatt Robertson and brought in Julianne Laird Hoge on vocals. Signed to Roadrunner Records in 1993, Believer issued Dimensions, which credited William Keller as the Voice. Bachman and Daub subsequently placed the project on indefinite hiatus, devoting their energies to production duties for acts including Turmoil and Living Sacrifice at their Pennsylvania-based Trauma Studios.
