Angelica

Born in Los Angeles to a musical family whose ranks included her uncle Eusebio Garcia, director of Mexico's Mariachi Toluca, Angelica rose as a Latin pop diva. She earned "Best New Artist" honors at the Mexican national talent contest Juguemos a Cantar and then spent two years on the Spanish-language variety program La Hora Feliz; although her breakthrough arrived with the 1992 English-language single "Angel Baby," she reconnected with her Latin heritage via the self-titled 1997 LP that yielded a hit in "Vaya."
