Fabio Orsi produces electronica in Italy, shaping his ambient approach around field recordings, atmospheric drones, and live instrumentation. Hailing from Carosino in Taranto, Italy, he names the field recordings of American folklorist Alan Lomax as his chief inspiration. His first full-length solo album, Osci, appeared in 2005 on the Small Voices label. Two years later he issued Find Electronica, his follow-up solo effort, through the A Silent Place imprint while teaming with veteran Italian electro-acoustic composer Gianluca Becuzzi for the three albums Muddy Speaking Ghosts Through My Machines, The Stones Know Everything, and Wild Flowers Under the Sofa. Additional joint full-lengths with Becuzzi followed, namely Sound Postcards in 2008 and So Far in 2009. Orsi worked alongside other artists too, notably Italian saxophonist Valerio Cosi on We Could for Hours (2008) and Thoughts Melt in the Air (2009). During the same period he put out numerous limited-edition CD-R mini-albums alongside further solo full-lengths, among them Audio for Lovers (2008) and Winterreise (2010).
