Biography
Blending hip-hop with new jack swing allowed Father MC to score a number 20 hit single, "I'll Do 4 U," on his opening album Father's Day. Close to You arrived nearly two years afterward. Strong sales for that follow-up were largely assured by his contribution to the Uptown MTV Unplugged collection. Earlier experience as a dancehall reggae performer left a reggae flavor woven into the sentimental love lyrics and hip-hop production. No Secrets signaled his return in 1999 after a four-year studio absence, and a further extended break led to the arrival of My in 2003.
