Biography
An acoustic-focused project unites Switchfoot's Jon Foreman with Nickel Creek's Sean Watkins under the name Fiction Family. They informally coalesced in 2005, adopting the tongue-in-cheek alias the Real SeanJon to needle Sean Jean Combs. Scattered intervals between road dates prompted the pair to capture their joint compositions in home recordings. Momentum remained measured, since Watkins prioritized Nickel Creek's "Farewell (For Now)" tour while Foreman launched independent solo work. The musicians regrouped in 2008 as Fiction Family and assembled a set built around acoustic chord progressions, harmony vocals, and eclectic instrumentation. ATO Records issued the self-titled album in January 2009, even after earlier speculation that the group had aligned with Starbucks' music division.
