Biography
The five artists Baby Sham, Lord Have Mercy, Rampage, Rah Digga, and Spliff Star made their initial joint appearance with Busta Rhymes under the Flipmode Squad banner in 1996, contributing to his album The Coming. Hailing from Brooklyn, the crew issued their first full-length project, The Imperial Album, two years later while individual members continued to appear as guests on projects by Busta Rhymes and additional artists and to drop sporadic solo efforts. Scouts Honor...by Way of Blood, Rampage’s 1997 release, contained the track “Flipmode Iz da Squad,” a cut underscoring the group’s allegiance. Rah Digga likewise ventured outside the collective in 1999 for her album Dirty Harriet, which included crew participation on the song “Just for You.” Flipmode Squad returned with a follow-up album, Rulership Movement, in 2002.
