Folly

Emerging from the mid-nineties New Jersey scene, Folly initially operated as a ska-punk outfit reminiscent of Sublime before evolving, through shifting personnel and changing musical fashions, into a post-hardcore ensemble infused with metal elements that largely eclipse the underlying ska rhythms. High school companions Agim Colaku and Geoff Towle established the group in suburban New Jersey during 1997, and they performed locally with a rotating cast centered on the guitarists while issuing two self-released demos toward the end of the decade that captured their ska-focused beginnings. The arrival of vocalist Jon Tummillo along with bassist Arben Colaku, Agim’s sibling, stabilized the configuration. Incorporating more intense components by the release of their 2001 EP For My Friends—which introduced permanent drummer Anthony Wille—the band attracted Triple Crown Records and issued their debut full-length album Insanity Later in 2004. A follow-up, Resist Convenience, appeared in March 2006 and displayed a pronounced metalcore direction.
