Drawing influence from acts such as Refused and the Mars Volta, Tucson post-hardcore five-piece the Bled reached a national audience through their Vagrant debut Found in the Flood in 2005. At that stage the lineup comprised vocalist James Muñoz, guitarists Ross Ott and Jeremy Talley, and a rhythm section of Darren Simoes on bass with Mike Pedicone on drums, although the group had already experienced earlier personnel shifts. Before the Vagrant agreement, the Bled had released material on Fiddler, including the 2003 album Pass the Flask. That record later went out of print and became difficult to obtain, which led Vagrant to reissue it in March 2007 augmented by bonus tracks drawn from the band’s earliest EPs.
