Frameworks emerged in 2011 from Gainesville, Florida, a locale known for its intense sonic output. The melodic hardcore unit crafts a layered mix of melody-driven hardcore, screamo, punk, and ambient alt-rock that calls to mind Deafheaven, La Dispute, and Touche Amore. Their first EP, Every Day Is the Same, appeared in 2011, with the follow-up Small Victories arriving two years later on 13th Floor Records. Jack Shirley, who had previously helmed Deafheaven’s widely acclaimed second album Sunbather, produced the group’s first full-length Loom, which Topshelf Records issued in 2014. February 2016 saw the arrival of the Topshelf-issued EP Time Spent, after which the band delivered its next studio album Smother on Jacob Bannon’s (Converge) independent imprint Deathwish Inc.
