Born in Tiel, Netherlands, on May 10, 1979, Dutch pop singer Frans Duijts drew major inspiration from levenslied legend André Hazes, the celebrated Dutch singer who died in 2004. His breakthrough arrived in 2008 with the hit single “Jij Denkt Maar Dat Jij Alles Mag Van Mij,” a cover of Hazes’ 1986 song that appeared on a four-song EP and reached the Top 40. The follow-up “Komt Er Voor Mij Dan Ook ’n Dag” climbed even higher, landing inside the Top 20. Captain Rob Records issued the full-length Zo Ben Ik Mezelf that year, generating two more Top 30 singles, “Lieveling” and “Nee, Niet Zeggen Hoe Ik Leven Moet.” The same label released the 2009 collection Denken Dat Je Alles Mag..., which gathered earlier recordings including the minor 2007 hit “Samen Op Het Strand.”
