Laura Lynn burst onto the Belgian music scene during 2005 via her number-one debut album Dromen, rapidly becoming the leading Flemish pop vocalist of her era throughout the Dutch-speaking region and earning the Schlagerkoningin nickname from many observers. Born Sabrina Tack on June 18, 1976, in the West Flanders town of Ardooie, she issued her first single, “Je Hebt Me 1000 Maal Belogen,” that same year through ARS Entertainment. The track enjoyed a six-month run on the Flemish singles chart, reaching number two, and also entered the Dutch Top 30. ARS Entertainment followed the single with the full-length Dromen in 2005, which topped the Belgian album chart for 13 weeks overall, remained on that listing for well over twelve months, and additionally reached the Dutch Top 30, aided by a holiday-season CD/DVD reissue containing extra tracks. Its strong reception prompted an Afrikaans-language edition for South African audiences. Along with the lead single, the set included the Top Ten entry “Jij Doet de Wolken Verdwijnen” and the Top 20 entry “Stille Dromen.”

Her sophomore release, Voor Jou, arrived in 2006 and likewise dominated the Flemish albums chart, holding the summit for six weeks and logging nearly a full year on the ranking while featuring the number-one single “Jij Bent de Mooiste” together with the Top Five single “Arrivederci Hans.” The 2007 album Goud van Hier continued her streak of chart-topping projects, yielding the number-one hit “Dans Je de Hele Nacht met Mij” and the Top Ten hit “Hasta la Vista Mañana.” For Duetten in 2008 she partnered with Dutch levenslied singer Frans Bauer, securing her fourth consecutive Flemish number-one album; the collection delivered the number-one singles “Kom Dans met Mij” and “Al Duurt de Nacht Tot Morgenvroeg,” the latter also reaching number 21 on the Dutch singles chart.
