Jo Vally, a Flemish pop singer whose run as a hitmaker extended across multiple decades from the 1980s onward, entered the world as Valère Lauwers on October 12, 1958, in Wolvertem, Belgium. His entry into music occurred during the 1970s. A 1981 bid at the Eurovision Song Festival featured the song "De Wereld Draait Voor Jou en Mij." Regular chart success arrived in the years that followed. Marking fifteen years in the industry, he issued the 1995 compilation 15 Jaar: Zijn Allerbeste, which climbed into the albums chart’s Top Ten. Two subsequent releases, Zingt Vlaamse Klassiekers in 1996 and its 1997 sequel Zingt Vlaamse Klassiekers, Vol. 2, both reached the Top Five. Although his albums continued to perform strongly into the new century, singles appeared on the charts with reduced frequency and lower peaks than before. Among those later entries, “Si Si Si (Kerida)” attained a number-six position. Further Top Ten albums from this period encompass De Kracht Van de Liefde (2000), Zingt Voor Moeder - Omdat Ik Van Je Hou (2003), Mijn Vriendin (2007), and Zijn 50 Allergrootste Hits (2008).
