A global seller of records in the millions, Belgian singer and songwriter Helmut Lotti entered the world as Helmut Lotigiers on October 29, 1969. An early encounter with Elvis Presley’s voice ignited his passion for music, leading him to adopt a crooner approach modeled closely on that idol. His debut album surfaced in 1990, and several follow-up releases earned him the local nickname “New Elvis.” Changing direction, he later devoted himself to a sequence of classical projects under the heading Helmut Lotti Goes Classic. By 1999 he had broadened his scope to include sounds from distant regions, producing well-received collections of African and Russian material. The 2006 release The Crooners reached the top of the Belgian charts.
