Chantal Vanlee came into the world in Hasselt in 1965 and later performed under the name Dana Winner, gaining early recognition in the first half of the nineties through Flemish-language renditions of the Carpenters song “On Top of the World,” titled “Op Het Dak van de Wereld,” and the Cats number “One Way Wind,” retitled “Westenwind.”

Under the direction of Belgian composer Jean Kluger she issued her first album, Mijn Paradijs, in 1994, then broadened her reach by cutting material in several languages and securing audiences in both South Africa and Germany by the close of the decade.

In the period that followed, Winner gathered additional honors at home and farther afield, registering further chart success with the 2007 single “Wenn Du Lachst” while earning praise for the 2014 album Bloom and the 2016 release Puur.
