Andrea Berg ranks among the most commercially dominant German pop vocalists of her era, with eight of her albums reaching the top of the charts and numerous ECHO awards recognizing her sales achievements. She entered the world on January 28, 1966, in Krefeld, where producer and Svengali Eugen Römer discovered her in 1992 and had her recording in the studio just days after their agreement. Her first album, Du Bist Frei, appeared soon afterward yet sold modestly, whereas the follow-up Gefühle became a major success thanks to the breakout single “Die Gefühle Haben Schweigepflicht.” The 1997 album Träume Lügen Nicht further confirmed her chart strength, after which she paused her career ahead of the birth of her first child and returned in 1999 with Weil Ich Verliebt Bin.

Her initial major project of the 2000s arrived in 2001 as her first Best Of compilation, a huge seller that remained on the German charts for more than four straight years and brought her the first of several ECHO honors. The next studio release, Machtlos, entered at number one in both Germany and Austria following its mid-2003 launch. Splitternackt topped the charts upon its 2006 arrival, while the 2008 holiday set Dezember Nacht marked her only studio album of the decade that failed to reach the summit. Another streak of number-one albums began with 2009’s Zwischen Himmel & Erde.

Schwerelos, issued late in 2010, occupied the charts for nearly the entire following year after Berg had changed producers from Eugen Römer to Dieter Bohlen, yielding the biggest commercial success of her career. By the close of 2011 she delivered Abenteuer, again produced by Bohlen; it surpassed the prior record by holding the top spot for many weeks and staying on the German charts for two full years. Atlantis, released in 2013 and likewise helmed by Bohlen, debuted at number one and remained on the charts for nearly twelve months. In 2014 Berg displayed her live performance abilities on Atlantis: Live das Heimspiel while extending the interval between studio projects. The 2016 album Seelenbeben became her eighth consecutive chart-topper.
