Kristina Bach, a German performer, first attracted notice in 1983 upon appearing at a talent competition in Düsseldorf. She has enjoyed ongoing popularity as a pop vocalist in her native country ever since issuing the 1984 BMG single "Heisser Sand." Light pop releases such as "Allein auf Einem Stern" and "Eldorado" defined the balance of the 1980s, while her 1990 single "Erst ein Cappuccino" reached the top of the German charts and established her among the nation's foremost stars. That achievement opened doors to additional projects, among them a collaboration with Harajuku on a cover of the theme from The Phantom of the Opera that registered on dance charts worldwide. She began writing songs for other acts the following year, eventually contributing material to Andrea Berg, Michelle, Stefanie Hertel, Helene Fischer, and Jeanette Biedermann. With more than two decades of pop accomplishments to her credit, Bach has drawn praise from German critics for navigating a transition from light pop singer to serious songwriter that many find difficult.
