Biography
Mario Hernandez, the indie-pop mastermind born in San Antonio, TX in 1967, created From Bubblegum to Sky as his solo outlet. Guitar study began for him during high school years in Alameda, CA, where he joined classmate Jamie McCormick to launch the duo Teeny Records (subsequently renamed Teeny Hi-Fi) and deliver its first single, "Weekend Go," in 1992. After the pair adopted the new name Ciao Bella, they produced a leading underground pop success with the 1997 LP 1 before disbanding not long afterward. Hernandez then started From Bubblegum to Sky to merge his core interests in American pop and Japanese kitsch, which yielded the single "My Thousand Years with Robots" during 1999, followed in early 2000 by the album Me and Amy and the Two French Boys.
