Biography
Geike Arnaert first rose to prominence as the frontwoman of Hooverphonic, laying down vocals across eight studio albums by the celebrated Belgian pop outfit before stepping away in 2008 to pursue solo work. She came into the world in Heuvelland in 1978 and took an early step into recording by joining legendary vocalist Bobbejaan Schoepen on the classic French number “Le Temps des Cerises.” Further guest spots followed on projects by Ozark Henry, Flip Kowlier, and Tom Helsen, after which she joined Dutch singer/songwriter Spinvis to create music for the Belgian film Adem, with the pair later issuing additional material as Dorleac. Her debut solo album, For the Beauty of the Confusion, appeared in 2011. The BLØF single “Zoutelande,” which showcased her voice in 2017, climbed to number one on the Dutch Top 40 and spurred her return to recording. She teamed with Joost Zweegers of Novastar and producer Wouter Van Belle to shape her second full-length release, 2019’s Lost in Time, which carried the single “Off Shore.”
