Gita Gutawa

Born into a family steeped in music—her father Erwin Gutawa worked as a composer and musician while her mother Lulu Gutawa wrote songs—Gita Gutawa seemed fated for a career as a pop or rock vocalist in her Indonesian homeland. Aluna Sagita Gutawa entered the world in Jakarta on August 11, 1993. Her initial breakthrough arrived via a guest spot on the Ada Band recording “Yang Terbaik Bagimu.” The year 2007 saw the arrival of her debut full-length, Gita Gutawa; two tracks from that set, “Kembang Perawan” and “Bukan Permainan,” became popular successes, with the second of them ascending to the summit of the national charts. The same release also stood out for a collaborative performance alongside Indonesian Idol runner-up Delon on the song “Your Love.”
