Good Neighbours

Oli Fox from Essex and Scott Verrill, born in South London, each pursued separate routes into music during the mid- to late 2010s. Fox earned his living penning material for electronic duo Gorgon City and serving as an opening act for Norwegian singer/songwriter Sigrid, which drew notice to his pair of lo-fi EPs. Verrill had already been onstage as a teenager; his earliest group, the Theory of 6 Degrees, became the youngest band ever to appear at the Glastonbury Festival, and he later issued recordings under the names Kyko, Kwassa, and Good Scott.

Adjacent studios in East London sparked informal sessions between the two in 2023 that soon turned into an official project steeped in the sonic textures of early-2000s indie rock. Their first offering, the track “Home,” gained rapid traction after a short clip circulated on TikTok, only for distributor Universal Music Group to withdraw all their material from the platform in early 2024. Listeners nevertheless sought out the complete version, landing the pair their initial Billboard Hot 100 entry. That breakthrough cleared the path for the self-titled debut EP Good Neighbours, issued in October 2024 and containing both “Home” and the single “Bloom.” The song had earlier climbed to number four on Billboard’s TikTok chart before crossing into the Hot 100 during 2024.
