Biography
Greg Weeks originates from Rochester, New York, and his albums conjure forgotten chamber-folk artifacts from the psychedelic close of the 1960s. Finger-picked guitar, Moog, Mellotron, harmonium, and string arrangements combine to shape his intricate, introspective pieces, which call to mind the atmospheres of Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen, and Tim Buckley.
The artist issued his debut, Fire in the Arms of the Sun, through New Jersey’s Ba Da Bing! Records in 1999. Bleecker Station, the hushed and mysterious 2000 successor released on Keyhole Records, advanced beyond that first effort. Awake Like Sleep followed in 2001 on Ba Da Bing!; the dark and dreamy set summons the spectral presence of Nico and opens by honoring her sublime interpretation of Jackson Browne’s “These Days.”
