Biography
The Guillemots assemble an international lineup of Fyfe Dangerfield, an English singer and classically trained pianist, Brazilian guitarist MC Lord Magrao, Scottish percussionist Greig Stewart (aka Rican Caol), and Canadian double bassist Aristazabal Hawkes. Their varied influences and distinct approaches combine to produce an infectious pop style and high-energy performances that earned them a loyal audience across the UK. In 2005 the band supported Rufus Wainwright on his U.K. tour and issued the EP I Saw Such Things in My Sleep. March 2006 brought the mini-album From the Cliffs, a compilation of early singles that contained every track from the preceding EP. Later that year they delivered the full-length Through the Windowpane. Spring 2008 saw the release of the very poppy Red, which contained the hit single "Get Over It". After a brief hiatus during which Dangerfield issued the 2010 solo album Fly Yellow Moon, the group returned to the studio for the well-received Walk the River in 2011 and Hello Land! in 2012. Largely recorded in Norway, Hello Land! launched a four-album series titled The Emporium of Fine Things, conceived around the cycle of the four seasons.
