Pete Brasino has maintained his distinctive rock & roll-infused approach to blues since his high school years. At age sixteen he started learning guitar without formal lessons, and his rapid progress within half a year prompted fellow students to bestow the nickname Guitar Pete, which later served as his stage moniker. His unorthodox technique also stems from that period: as a left-handed player lacking instruction, he never adopted conventional southpaw stringing and instead holds the instrument in a reversed position while applying right-handed finger placements. Early heavy metal releases issued as Guitar Pete's Axe Attack failed to achieve sales traction yet drew notice from prominent industry figures, ultimately securing a 1994 contract for his group Snakeyed Sue. Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiro, whose credits encompass Blues Traveler, Guns N' Roses, and Aretha Franklin, handled production on the band's debut album. Snakeyed Sue disbanded soon after that record appeared, but Guitar Pete resurfaced four years later with the solo album Burning Bridges, which highlighted his commanding blues style.
