Biography
Emerging from Spain in the early 1990s, the hardcore punk outfit Habeas Corpus cut its debut EP, Sociedad Mecanizada, in 1995. One year afterward the five-piece unit joined the bill for Concierto Para La Represión at Madrid’s La Guindalera Social Center alongside Tarzán, Speereth, and Inadaptats. Its lyrics, centered on contentious topics, address individuals enduring every form of social repression. The track “Expresión Directa” appeared on the soundtrack to the 1998 film Barrio, directed by Fernando León; that same year selections by the band were included on the Revelde Discos anthology Radical Mestizo together with Color Humano, los Fabulosos Cadillacs, and additional Latin rock acts. N.N. arrived in January 1999, prompting a nationwide tour, after which the group issued A Las Cosas Por Su Nombre, produced by Eugenio Muñoz, in 2000.
