Biography
Originating in Los Angeles, the psych-rock outfit Hearty Har channels raw drive and ringing hooks with matching intensity. Fronted by siblings Shane and Tyler Fogerty, the offspring of Creedence Clearwater Revival icon John Fogerty, the group refined its high-voltage live presence throughout the second half of the 2010s while putting out several modest independent recordings, then unveiled its first full-length effort, Radio Astro, in 2021.
After an earlier band ended, the brothers joined their father’s touring lineup in 2012; a chance backstage encounter in London with the E Street Band supplied the moniker Hearty Har, which matched the playful new path their songs were following. In the ensuing years the Fogerty siblings shaped a backward-looking aesthetic drawing from interstellar psych-pop, vintage country-rock, eccentric Joe Meek studio techniques, Stax soul, and assorted additional influences. Performing as guitar-playing co-leaders, Shane and Tyler openly acknowledged their father’s rock lineage while shaping Hearty Har into a potent live act built on concise, memorable tunes and exuberant singing. Following the self-issued 2018 EP Crystal Shards, Vol.1, the pair secured a BMG contract and began crafting a true debut album. When Radio Astro arrived in 2021, it fused the brothers’ wide-ranging tastes into one cohesive, vibrant statement.
