Biography
Hebronix serves as the solo outlet for Daniel Blumberg, the versatile British artist long recognized for his role in the indie rock group Yuck while pursuing multiple endeavors from the mid-2000s onward. The project debuted through the hazy, experimental psych-pop release Unreal in 2013 before returning in 2018 with Liv, a far more somber and dissonant full-length captured years prior.
After separating from the London-based outfit Yuck at the start of 2013, Blumberg promptly revealed his new solo venture under the Hebronix name. As the band headed to New York to lay down its sophomore album with Max Bloom assuming lead vocals in place of his former collaborator, the London-born musician completed work on Unreal. Neil Hagerty of Royal Trux handled production, and the record reached listeners first through the dreamy, college rock leanings of its title track. By late April, Hebronix joined Low for a U.K. run of dates ahead of the summer launch of Unreal on ATP Recordings. Blumberg maintained a steady pace across additional outlets in the years that followed, issuing Minus, his initial solo effort under his given name, via Mute in 2018. That same label later put out Liv, an album tracked across three days in 2014 and previously left unreleased. The sessions included contributions from Kohhei Matsuda on monosynth, Billy Steiger on violin, and Tom Wheatley on double bass, with the finished work credited jointly to Blumberg and Hebronix. A limited vinyl edition appeared toward the close of 2018, followed by a wider rollout in March 2019.
