Biography
John Kolodij, a guitarist residing in Boston, initiated the High Aura'd endeavor during 2009. Labels including Stunned Records, Reverb Worship, and Sweat Lodge Guru issued his droning soundscapes on cassette and CD-R formats. Bathetic Records put out his initial vinyl effort, Sanguine Futures, in 2012; this recording included trumpet contributions from Greg Kelley, associated with Nmerpign, along with production work from John Twells, the founder of Type who performs as Xela. In 2013 came a split 7" alongside Blood Bright Star, and High Aura'd joined forces with Angel Olsen the next year for the track "Red Rocks," included on the compilation LP I Blame Reaganomics issued by Corleone Records. After moving to Rhode Island, Kolodij captured the Awake LP in his personal studio working together with Mike Shiflet, with Type handling the 2015 release.
