Biography
A rugged rapper from the West Coast made notable contributions to Dr. Dre’s expansive 2001 album despite limited experience in the spotlight at that stage. His work fell short of replicating Snoop Dogg’s presence on The Chronic yet matched it in overall reach, prompting swift labels of Hitman as Dre’s fresh protégé along with early discussions of a solo release. Prospects had nevertheless faded by the close of 2000: Hitman was left off the ambitious, commercially successful Up in Smoke tour that Dre headlined across the United States in summer 2000, and attention quickly shifted toward Xzibit as the producer’s latest favored rapper.
