Sabbat

In 1986 an English group called Sabbat assembled around vocalist Martin Walkyier, guitarist Andy Sneap, bassist Frazer Craske and drummer Simon Negus. The quartet stood out for its extreme velocity and its preoccupation with witchcraft, black magic, paganism and the Dark Ages, while its compositions grew intricate and its concerts adopted an overtly theatrical style. After issuing two albums, Walkyier and Craske departed, the former going on to found Skyclad. Replacing them with new musicians, Sabbat managed one further album before disbanding.
