Biography
Hailing from Oslo, Norway, Aura Noir serves as a side project assembled by prominent figures from the regional extreme metal scene, namely vocalist and bassist Ole Jørgen Moe together with guitarist Carl-Michael Eide (each also active in Cadaver and Dødheimsgard), guitarist Rune Erickson (Mayhem, Mezzerschmitt), and drummer Dirge Rep (Enslaved, Gehenna, etc.) who joined at a later stage. Tracing activity back to 1993, the intermittent supergroup circulated multiple demos ahead of its 1995 debut release, the Dreams Like Deserts EP, which cast the band as thrash devotees operating inside the surrounding black metal scene’s stylistic framework. Later Aura Noir recordings consist of 1997’s Black Thrash Attack, 1999’s Deep Tracts of Hell, and 2000’s Increased Damnation, the last of these also drawing guest contributions from Darkthrone legend Fenriz.
