Biography
Formed in Sweden during 1990, the black metal outfit Nifelheim issued only a modest number of full-length releases across its existence. Despite repeated personnel shifts, the group retained a loyal audience that sustained its core members through nearly two decades of activity. The twin brothers Per and Erik Gustavsson, performing respectively as Hellbutcher on vocals and Tyrant on bass, launched the project and delivered their debut album alongside longtime associate Demon in 1994. The self-titled record was succeeded by Devil's Force in 1997, Servants of Darkness in 2000, 13 Years in 2003, a 2006 split with Vulcano, and Envoy of Lucifer in 2007. Over time the configuration stabilized around the Gustavsson brothers together with Apocalyptic Desolator (Johan Bergeback) handling guitar, Vengeance From Beyond (Sebastian Reamstedt) on second guitar, and Insulter of Jesus Christ (Peter Stjarnvind) on drums.
