Biography
In 2004 guitarist/vocalist Kiyomi McCloskey teamed with bassist Adrienne Lloyd and drummer Laura Petracca to launch the fiery Canadian all-female hard rock outfit Hunter Valentine. The Pretenders, Janis Joplin, Loverboy, and Muse shaped the group’s sound, enabling a self-financed 2005 debut EP to generate strong interest across Southern Ontario and secure a contract with True North, which issued the band’s first full-length album, The Impatient Romantic, in 2007. Ian Blurton (Weakerthans, Cursed, Skydiggers) produced 2010’s Lessons from the Late Night, an album that faithfully reproduced the group’s propulsive live sound and preceded the like-minded yet more streamlined Collide & Conquer in 2012.
