Biography
Jake La Furia, born Francesco Vigorelli in Milan during 1979, established himself as an Italian rapper, DJ, producer, and driving force behind the influential rap outfits Sacre Scuole, Club Dogo, and Dogo Gang. His output evolved from raw hardcore rap toward smoother, groove-oriented pop-rap. Initially recording under the name Fame, he launched Sacre Scuole in 1999 alongside Dargen d'Amico and Guè Pequeno. That trio issued a single project, 3 MC's al Cubo, then disbanded in 2001 amid creative friction between Fame and Dargen d'Amico. Fame, now using the name Jake La Furia, joined Guè Pequeno and Don Joe—who had already contributed production to 3 MC's al Cubo—to create Club Dogo. Their anime-inspired debut, Mi Fist, surfaced in 2003 via MiResidenza Entertainment and quickly earned both commercial and critical acclaim as one of Italy's top-selling independent releases that year. Vibrarecords handled a reissue the next year. Club Dogo subsequently aligned with Marracash to establish the Dogo Gang collective, which dropped the mixtapes PMC vs Club Dogo - The Official Mixtape in 2004 and Roccia Music in 2005.
Club Dogo's follow-up, Penna Capitale, arrived on Vibrarecords in 2006 and adopted a more personal, reflective, and socially aware lyrical stance than earlier material. The group then moved to Virgin for Vile Denaro, their most radio-friendly and sales-focused effort to that point, which reached number 11 on the Italian charts. Dogo Gang issued their debut proper, Benvenuti Nella Giungla, in 2008. Club Dogo meanwhile partnered with Universal, resulting in Dögöcrazïa in 2009; the set included guest spots from assorted Italian rappers plus American MCs Kool G Rap and Infamous Mobb, climbed into the Italian Top Ten, and outperformed its predecessor commercially. The 2010 release Che Bello Essere Noi extended the upward trajectory by peaking at number two. Two years later, Noi Siamo il Club signaled a pivot toward dance-oriented sounds that echoed a refreshed take on early-'90s hip-house. The album topped the charts, earned platinum certification, and yielded multiple hit singles. Jake La Furia declared plans for solo work in 2013, delivering Musica Commerciale toward the end of that year; it entered at number two and achieved gold status early in 2014. Club Dogo resurfaced the same year with Non Siamo Più Quelli di Mi Fist, another chart-topping release.
