Born Lauro de Marinis, the Italian rapper and singer Achille Lauro blends a fluid sound with a striking style. He rose from underground rap phenom to hip-hop superstar when he unveiled the track "Rolls Royce" at the 2019 Sanremo Music Festival. After emerging in 2012 with a pair of mixtapes, he delivered his full-length debut Achille Idol immortale in 2014. Drawing from influences that include Vasco Rossi, Kurt Cobain, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Travis Scott, Young Thug, Lucio Battisti, and Rino Gaetano, Lauro fused eccentric alternative rap with fashion to become an underground sensation with a small but rabid fan base. He cemented his mainstream breakthrough the following year through another Sanremo appearance and the hit single "Me Ne Frego," then released the genre-spanning LP Lauro in 2021, folding pop, punk, grunge, glam rock, and electronic music into his already eclectic oeuvre.
