Javelin

Cousins Tom Van Buskirk and George Langford launched the Brooklyn, New York-based indie electronic duo Javelin in 2005. The pair produces funky, abstract, R&B-flavored pop that highlights painstakingly re-created samples and loops. Their 2009 self-released demo collection Jamz n Jemz and the two Thrill Jockey 12"s titled Javelin and Number Two preceded the 2010 debut album No Más, issued by the Luaka Bop label. One year afterward came the Western-influenced Canyon Candy EP. Preparing the follow-up full-length, the duo abandoned homemade sounds for proper studio recording and shifted toward conventional verse-chorus structures intended for live performance with a full band. Hi Beams, the resulting album, appeared in early 2013.
