Philadelphia, PA native Jon Barthmus, once a member of the A-Sides, launched the dreamy electronic pop project Sun Airway. Drummer Patrick Marsceill, another former A-Sides colleague, joined the lineup in its earliest days. The group fuses sleek, luminous electronics and airy sonic layers with the structural drive and tunefulness of indie pop and rock. Its debut EP, Oh, Naoko, appeared as a free giveaway in mid-2010, after which Sun Airway created remixes for Delorean, Here We Go Magic, the Hundred in the Hands, and Caribou. Dead Oceans issued the first full-length, Nocturne of Exploded Crystal Chandelier, during the fall of that year. The act resurfaced in 2011 with the Wild Palms single, revealing a leaner yet more expansive sonic approach. Drawing from the grandeur of Versailles and the prose of Andre Breton, Sun Airway delivered its second album, Soft Fall, in October 2012.
