Biography
In Los Angeles, the synth pop outfit known as Superhumanoids came together when its three multi-instrumentalists—Cameron Parkins, Sarah Chernoff, and Max St. John—connected in 2009 after performing separately and identifying a common affinity for vintage 1980s pop alongside synthesizer-driven modern R&B. Songwriting commenced promptly, leading to the swift issuance of their debut EP, Urgency, during July 2010, with Parasite Paradise arriving as a follow-up in the first half of 2011. Live performances occupied much of that period and the subsequent year, yet they simultaneously laid down tracks for their inaugural full-length effort. Innovative Leisure, the notable independent imprint, secured their signature, resulting in the launch of Exhibitionists by mid-2013. With promotion concluded, the group returned to recording facilities for a nine-month stretch dedicated to crafting their subsequent album, interspersed with remix contributions for Erasure and De Lux plus various DJ residencies. The band itself handled production duties on Do You Feel OK?, which incorporated drumming from Brian Henspeter and saw release via Innovative Leisure in September 2015.
