Memoryhouse

Formed in Guelph, Ontario, Memoryhouse operates as a dream pop duo whose recordings favor a lo-fi approach. Photographer Denise Nouvion supplies the vocals while classical composer Evan Abeele handles production duties; the pair launched the project in 2009. They adopted the name from Max Richter’s 2001 album of the same title and acknowledge My Bloody Valentine, Galaxie 500, and Cocteau Twins as primary influences. Their first release arrived that same year in the form of the track “To the Lighthouse.” In 2010 the duo issued the four-track EP The Years through Arcade Sound and unveiled the single Lately, which was accompanied by a promotional video. Sub Pop reissued the single in 2011 and, the following year, put out the full-length debut The Slideshow Effect.
