Biography
Among producers working in ambient music, space rock artist Jeff Pearce remains distinctive for centering his sound on electric guitar. He first picked up the instrument in 1980, reproducing whatever tracks he heard on the radio. Only after studying classical and jazz guitar did he gain exposure to broader techniques and approaches. Chiefly shaped by the early textures of Brian Eno's Music for Airports, the now practiced musician settled into ambient music, also known as space rock. He generates his pieces with electric guitar, an array of distortion pedals, and, at times, a knife used to bow the strings, earning a loyal audience for the resulting work.
