Jonn Serrie

For more than ten years, Serrie has drawn creative impetus from celestial themes as one of the foremost composers working in planetariums. Raised amid relatives deeply rooted in aviation, he maneuvers analog and digital synthesizers with the same command a pilot exercises over cockpit instruments. Although his beat-driven pieces frequently convey a quiet sense of grandeur, the 1990 album Tingri instead showcases more concise, pop-leaning instrumental works. Serrie nevertheless finds his strongest voice in the extended space-music explorations that first established his reputation. That signature approach reached a new level of refinement through his collaboration with Gary Stroutsos on the 2000 release Hidden World.
