Jimin

South Korean vocalist and performer Park Ji-min, known professionally as Jimin, rose to worldwide prominence in the late 2010s and early 2020s through his role in the globally dominant K-pop act BTS. While the group remained active, he contributed featured solo performances across their albums and issued independent tracks in parallel. Following BTS’s 2022 hiatus from group promotions, Jimin collaborated with Big Bang’s Taeyang on the 2023 single “Vibe,” securing the vocalist’s initial solo entry on U.S. charts; his debut solo project, Face, followed that March and produced the Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit “Like Crazy.” In July 2024 he returned with the full-length MUSE.

Born in Busan in 1995, Jimin successfully auditioned for Big Hit Entertainment in 2012 and joined BTS upon the group’s 2013 debut, where his singular vocal timbre quickly became a signature element of their recordings. Alongside his six bandmates, he helped drive the septet to international superstardom and repeated global chart dominance. On BTS projects he delivered three notable solo cuts: “Lie” from Wings, “Serendipity” from Love Yourself: Her and Love Yourself: Answer, and “Filter” from Map of the Soul: 7. Further standalone appearances included the 2014 track “Christmas Day” and a 2017 reinterpretation of Charlie Puth’s “We Don't Talk Anymore,” both shared with Jungkook; the 2018 ballad “Promise”; 2020’s “Christmas Love”; and the 2022 Ha Sung-woon duet “With You,” featured in the Korean drama Our Blues.

Early 2023 brought Jimin his first solo Billboard Hot 100 placement via “Vibe,” a Taeyang collaboration on which he also received co-writing credit; the song subsequently reached the top ten throughout Asia. Face, his inaugural official solo EP, arrived that March, with lead single “Like Crazy” ascending to the top of the U.S. pop chart while the project itself claimed number-one positions in South Korea, Japan, and additional territories. Closing the year, Jimin issued “Closer Than This,” which debuted at number one on Billboard’s World Digital Songs chart. Both that track and the subsequent single “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” were included on MUSE, released in July 2024.
