Jo Koy, born Joseph Glenn Herbert, emerged as a popular Filipino-American stand-up comic after sharpening his craft in Las Vegas coffee houses and establishing himself among the leading comedians of the 2000s and 2010s. His style centers on relatable observational humor drawn extensively from family experiences, given his European-American father and Filipino mother. Regular appearances as a roundtable guest on Chelsea Lately accompanied guest spots across numerous programs and podcasts such as World's Funniest Fails, The Joy Behar Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Adam Carolla Show, and Last Call with Carson Daly and Jamie Foxx. Raised in Tacoma, Washington and now based in Los Angeles, the comedian achieved his breakthrough in 2005 through an ovation-worthy performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He sustained a demanding calendar afterward with frequent panel engagements and three well-received comedy specials, including Lights Out and Don't Make Him Angry for Comedy Central plus Live In Seattle for Netflix. The Koy Pond, his own weekly podcast, launched in 2018.
