Since his independent debut with Changing Faces in 2001, Georgia-born singer and songwriter Josh Kelley has sustained a steady creative output. Hollywood Records later signed the artist, resulting in the 2003 adult Top 40 single “Amazing” from For the Ride Home. Kelley’s soulful pop approach drew listeners already attuned to Jason Mraz and John Mayer. Almost Honest appeared in 2005, topping Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart and producing the further Top 40 hit “Only You.”

After exiting the Hollywood contract, Kelley self-produced Just Say the Word in 2006 and issued it on his own Threshold Records, subsequently renamed DNK. His younger brother Charles Kelley soon began attracting audiences as a member of Lady Antebellum. Kelley maintained a lower profile in 2008 while releasing Special Company, the digital-only Backwoods, and the Target-exclusive To Remember. Turning toward his Southern background, he signed with MCA Nashville in 2009. Georgia Clay, his seventh solo album and first country project, arrived in 2011, reaching number 16 on Billboard’s country chart while also entering the pop listing; the title track was co-written by Charles. In 2016 Kelley returned on Sugar Hill Records with the self-produced New Lane Road. Recorded at his Utah home studio, where he performed nearly every part himself, the album linked his pop and country sensibilities.
