JT Money

JT Money formerly headed the hip-hop outfit Poison Clan and has long specialized in tracks designed for dancing. 2 Live Crew founder Luther Campbell spotted him during a Miami talent show, after which JT Money cut three albums with Poison Clan for Campbell’s Skyywalker Records before the group split amid a disagreement with Campbell. Drawing on that experience, he shaped his debut solo release, Pimpin’ On Wax, around the same style of dancefloor-friendly hip-hop Campbell had helped bring to prominence. The 2001 follow-up, Blood Sweat & Years, delivered more of that sound and confirmed JT Money’s ability to turn out club-friendly hip-hop with regularity, a pattern continued the next year on Return of the B-Izer.
