Since its formation in 1995, Juno has retained essentially the same configuration. The Seattle emo-core group endured a rapid turnover of drummers in its early period, a situation one member has described as “Spinal Tap luck with drummers,” until Greg Ferguson joined on a permanent basis in 1997; earlier temporary players included Erik Akre, Joe Plummer, and Steven Cobb. The band’s emotionally charged lyrics and forceful delivery quickly drew attention from leading indie imprints such as Sub Pop, DeSoto, and Jade Tree, each of which has actively courted the group from the outset. This Is The Way It Goes & Goes & Goes appeared on De Soto in 1999, after which bassist Travis Saunders departed amicably in April of 2000. In the interim, Nate Mendel (Foo Fighters), Nick Harmer (Death Cab for Cutie), and Chris Duyree (Automaton Adventure Series) have stepped in for concerts and recording dates. Future Lived In Past Tense reached stores in spring 2001.
