Biography
Although born in Chatham, Tom Hull gained his initial visibility only after relocating to London and adopting the stage name Kid Harpoon. That move allowed him to issue a series of singles and EPs that attracted strong critical notice. His debut release, the 2006 single “Riverside” on the Brikabrak label, was quickly followed by the seven-inch The First EP. The subsequent The Second EP brought further recognition, prompting Harpoon to expand his live performances with a complete band. Known as the Powers That Be, the group—comprising Clayton Boothroyd, Tom Bonner, Jon Jackson, Florian Lunaire, and Mr. Squeaky—also joined him in the studio to record his first album, scheduled for release in spring 2008.
