Biography
Studio musician King Errisson has pursued an eventful path in entertainment since first entering the field. From ages 13 through 18 he worked as a professional jockey while also serving as a session drummer with local groups in his native Bahamas. He relocated to Los Angeles in 1968 with the goal of acting, a field in which he found steady roles across multiple films and television programs, among them the James Bond thriller Thunderball and the Abe Vigoda series Fish. There he formed a close connection with saxophonist Julian Adderly, leading the pair to collaborate on several albums. Studio opportunities soon followed, placing him on recordings by artists ranging from Barbara Streisand to the Jackson 5. Motown founder Berry Gordy singled him out as the “unsung hero of Motown.” In the intervals between tours he issued a handful of solo albums and took additional screen parts, notably in The Jazz Singer and Tap. He later established a fishing resort in the Bahamas while maintaining a residence outside Las Vegas for continued session engagements. Around the same period he became a member of Neil Diamond’s band, contributing to the majority of Diamond’s releases throughout the ’80s. His final solo project, the 1993 album Man, preceded a return to session duties and intermittent appearances alongside Diamond.
