Fronted by dynamic lead singer Chloe Chaidez, the Los Angeles-based four-piece Kitten craft dance-rock and synth pop steeped in '80s post-punk textures. Growing up as the daughter of former Thee Undertakers drummer Mike Chaidez, Chloe absorbed a blend of punk and '80s new wave sounds from acts such as the Go-Go's, the Motels, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Chaidez launched her initial project, the cover band Wild Youth, at age ten as a notably driven teenager. Kitten came together three years afterward, at which point she and producer/manager Chad Anderson started shaping original songs. The group issued its propulsive, guitar- and synth-driven EP Sunday School in 2010, when Chaidez was just 15. After signing with Atlantic, they followed up in 2012 with the second EP, Cut It Out.

Their self-titled full-length debut arrived in 2014 and included the tracks "Like a Stranger," "G#," and "Doubt." After supporting Charli XCX and the Neighbourhood on the road, Kitten put out the fourth EP, Heaven or Somewhere in Between. Once they parted from Atlantic, the band turned to an independently made next project, which surfaced first as the 2018 single "I Did It."
