Korey Dane, a singer and songwriter from California, specializes in earthy yet intellectually rich folk and indie rock sounds. He entered the world in Southern California during 1989 and spent his formative years in the vicinity of Long Beach alongside a father who worked as a mechanic and a mother employed as an English teacher. Guitar study began for him at fifteen, after which he entered his twenties and established a creative alliance with fellow singer and songwriter Tess Shapiro. The pair produced a pair of favorably received independent releases—2009’s For the Kite Flyers and 2010’s Loomer—prior to going their separate ways. Dane then redirected attention toward solo material and eventually collaborated with guitarist Aaron Embry plus several sympathetic musicians to expand the arrangements of his compositions. That effort yielded the 2015 album Youngblood, which received production oversight from Tony Berg (Edie Brickell, Michael Penn, Aimee Mann) and featured backing vocals by Z. Berg and Chris Stills. Dane reappeared in 2017 with his second studio album Chamber Girls, which spotlighted the singles “Half Asleep” and “Lovesick In a Hotel Wildfire.”
